B-to-the-Ezzle (BE)

Lie:

".we market our products only to those of legal drinking age."
- Anheuser-Busch

Truth:

B-to-the-E Beer CanAnheuser-Busch has introduced a contemporary product, B-to-the-E (BE ), as a desperate attempt to maintain market share with young drinkers. Along with a name that evokes hip-hop slang, this product appeals to the changing tastes of the market segment, now referred to as the "cocktail culture crowd"-young drinkers who increasingly favor the wide variety of flavors and colors of mixed drinks. Consistent with the trend, BE is beer infused with caffeine, guarana and ginseng-an energy drink and beer hybrid-offering a sweet, yet tart taste. What may help Anheuser-Busch keep its spot as the leading supplier of the #1 drug of choice for underage drinkers, may very well hurt the young drinkers consuming it.
